The Inner Voice Organization was started to be an information organization for the people of Fort Berthold. In the fall of 2007 a former Tribal Chairman Bud Mason asked some tribal members to help him get a message to the enrolled membership.
The message was that the Tribal Business Council has not acted in the best interest of the people by giving Oil Leases to other Tribal Members who never owned an Oil business without competitive bidding. The concern was that the money rightfully belonged to the enrolled members and certain Tribal Councilmen were involved as owners of these businesses. Bud estimated that using Dakota 3's projections each enrolled member could possibly receive $78,000.00 a year for twenty years in the form of a per cap. How much could we have had if we developed the Oil ourselves like other Tribes. Black Rock and JT Energy flipped their Tribal Leases and made millions off our Lands which our TBC could have done from the start.
The Elders organization and Inner Voice have talked to Federal Agencies including Byron Dorgan head of the Indian Affairs without any response. We wanted to prove these allegations or put these rumors to rest but to date have not received any response. The Tribal Council will not give out any information on finances or IMDA's so we are assuming they have something to hide.
Through this web-site other corruption and wrongdoing has come to light from the comment section. Here are the issues that need answers:
Dakota 3 Oil company was given (without competive bidding) tribal lands to lease so are any of our Tribal Leaders involved?
Spotted Hawk Oil Company was given tribal lands to lease are any Tribal Leaders involved?
Did the Small Loans give thousands of dollars to a few individuals?
What is the debt load of the 3 Affiliated Tribes?
What happened to the JTAC investment plan?
Why did just certain people get Houses including Councilmen?
There are many issues that need answers but through all this information or non-information one thing is certain and that is we need a new Constitution. We can no longer wait for someone else to save us from ourselves we the people have to make the necessary changes.
